In this FAQ we want to answer some of your questions about the conference. With the registration pack you will be given a guide of the city in Spanish and English with maps, bus lines and lots of practical information.

Is it very expensive to take a taxi to the venue?
Not really, if you share it (usually they have room for 4 people). The price will be between 8 and 10 €. You may stop a taxi on the street, pick it up in a taxi stop or call one. These are the taxi phone numbers:

Is there a computer we can use at the venue?
Yes, you may use the computers (with Internet access) in the “Biblioteca” (follow signs for “Computer Room 1”) from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and in the “Sala de informática EA” (follow the signs for “Computer Room 2”) from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The access code to these computers will be given to you in the conference pack.

Is there free wifi anywhere at the venue?
Yes, there is fee wifi (no password required) in the Theatre and in the Cafeteria.

The venue seems a nice place…
The venue is a historic building and there will be guided tours to visit it. Times and meeting point will be announced in advance.

Conference dinner “ESPICHA”

What is a Espicha?
It is an informal buffet party in a cider-press house where you can taste different typical plates from Asturias (meat, eggs, salads, croquettes, etc.) and drink cider directly poured from the barrel.

Will there be vegetarian food?
Yes, there will be different choices of food.

When does it start? How long is it?
It starts at 8:30 p.m. and you can stay there until 12:00 p.m., if you want.

How will we get to the Espicha and leave from it?
It is possible to walk to the restaurant from the venue and even back to town, if you feel like walking quite a lot… But there will be a bus from the conference venue to the restaurant and, later, from the restaurant to the city centre at different times.

Is there any dress code for the Espicha?
No, there is no dress code, in fact an Espicha is an informal party, so you can wear casual clothes (jeans or similar). Take into account that we will be in the place where the cider is made so it might be a bit cold.

How much does the Espicha cost?
The price of the Espicha is 26 euros (food, drinks and bus included in the price).

When do I have to pay for the Espicha?
The deadline to pay is Wednesday morning. You should pay at the registration office.

May I bring somebody who is not registered in the conference to the Espicha?
Of course! Just let us know when you do the payment.

How are daily meals organized?
For daily meals we will have a buffet service (there will be signs telling you where it is). There will be food options for vegetarians and vegans. Participants who have special requirements such as food allergies, please, contact the organization staff.

May I bring drinks and food to the rooms and/or theatre?
No, it is not allowed to eat or drink in the Theatre and in the rooms. It is very important that we comply with this, as it is one of the rules of the venue.

Can I use my laptop for my presentation?
We recommend that you use the computers in the rooms for your presentations. However, if you want to use your laptop and it is a Mac, please, remember to bring the adapter for the projector.

Is there wifi connection in the rooms?
No, there is internet connection if you use the computer that is already in the room, but it is very unlike that you will be able to connect your own computer to that network, as it is part of the university network and requires some technical specificities. If you need to use Internet for your presentation, the safest is to use the computer in the room.

There are only 3 speakers in my panel. Does this mean I can have more time for my presentation?
No, each presentation will last, maximum, 20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions and comments, even if there are only two or three speakers in your panel.

When can I get my certificate?
Certificates for speakers will be given by the panel chairs after each session. Certificates for attendees will be given at the registration desk.

When will the conference proceedings be published?
Instructions regarding conference proceedings will be announced during the conference by the Executive Board of IASPM.
